Grade II Listed Regency Style Property - South Brent
Client brief: To supply dress curtains and blinds for this regency sytle period property.
Full-length, interlined dress curtains with triple pinch pleat headings in the formal dining and drawing rooms were made up in James Hare silk and Vanessa Arbuthnott linen fabrics. In addition, co-ordinating fabrics were used to create functional Roman blinds within the window recess. When making up the Roman blinds for the family room, special attention had to be made to compensate for the sloping ceiling and uneven side recesses.
Barn Conversion - Cornworthy, Totnes
Client brief: To supply window dressings for a kitchen / breakfast room and lounge.
In the lounge, full-length, interlined curtains were made for two sets of French doors. Silent Gliss ceiling fixed, corded metal poles were used together with hand-made triple pinch pleat headed curtains to create a classic and elegant window treatment. In the kitchen / breakfast room, a single full-length curtain was fitted to the French doors. The contemporary eyelet heading enables the curtain to be neatly stacked away from the door.
Holiday Home - Dartmouth
Client brief: To find a perfect solution for the apex shaped windows and doors in a recently renovated town house.
The deep puffed headings on the bathroom window Roman blinds cleverly disguise the bevelled join between the wall and ceiling. In the bedroom, the same deep puffed heading was used to emphasise the shape of the apex window and Juliette balcony doors.
Dartmoor Country House Hotel - Chagford
Client brief: Co-ordinated soft furnishings for restful and contemporary hotel bedrooms.
In each room, the specification included curtains or Roman blinds with blackout linings. Upholstered headboards, bed throws and bed valances were designed to co-ordinate with the window treatments. Existing armchairs and sofas were restored and re-covered. Cushions and window seats in various shapes and sizes, were made up to complete the look. Country House - Dartmoor
Client brief: To supply soft furnishings for a new oak framed extension to a listed building.
Embroidered silk by G.P & J.Baker was used throughout the open plan bedroom, bathroom and dressing room. The background colour of the silk fabric blended with the oak window frames and the autumnal tones of the embroidered flowers linked well with the rich mahogany furniture and accessories. The Roman blinds fitted neatly within the oak framework of the windows in order to maximise the far reaching views of Dartmoor. A heavyweight interlining was used for the triple pinch pleat headed curtains in the dressing room. This created a sumptuous and luxurious finish to the room.
Thatched Farmhouse - South Hams
Client brief: To supply soft furnishings in a refurbished bedroom, en-suite and dressing room.
Co-ordinating fabrics and trimmings from the Susie Watson and Vanessa Arbuthnott collections were used for the window and bed dressings. The upholstered headboard was fitted with a removable loose cover for ease of dry cleaning. A matching bed valance completed the look. An embroidered / appliqué Susie Watson fabric was used for the interlined dress curtains. These were fitted to a graphite coloured wrought iron curtain pole by Cameron Fuller. A feather filled window seat cushion and Roman blind were made in co-ordinating Susie Watson fabrics.
Country House - South Hams
Client brief: To supply a range of traditional soft furnishings for Georgian style windows and dormers.
Cream damask fabric was chosen for the dress curtains and swags and tails. A less formal gingham check fabric was used as a contrast for the tails and the fully functioning Roman blind within the window recess. Voile curtains and curtain valances were fitted to wall mounted coronas to create a focal point in the bedrooms. Matching gingham check fabric was used to re-upholster the headboards and make the fitted bed valances. Full-length, double sided crewel work muslin curtains were ruched onto hinged dormer rods from Cameron Fuller. This style of window treatment allows the curtains to be hinged back against the sides of the dormer walls.
Loft Apartment - Salcombe
Client brief: To supply a range of soft furnishings with a modern nautical theme.
Coastal colours and nautical stripes were used for Roman blinds, bed valances and cushions. The headboards were made up in plain co-ordinating colours. Storage boxes were made up and covered in a selection of the various bedroom fabrics. Simple, unlined linen Roman blinds were used throughout the open plan living area. The blinds help to soften the windows and give privacy. A band of contrasting fabric added to the bottom of the curtains for the French doors gives a smart contemporary look and links the curtains with the other colours in the room. The inverted pleat headings on the curtains, fitted to a Silent Gliss Metropole, creates a modern, tailored finish.
